Amanda Kent Smith joined Hall, Bloch, Garland & Meyer’s litigation section in August 2024. Amanda brings extensive writing and litigation experience to the firm. She began her legal career as a staff attorney for a statewide non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring access to justice for Georgia’s most vulnerable citizens. Amanda gained a wide variety of legal experience during her time as a legal aid attorney. Toward the end of her tenure, Amanda’s practice focused largely on challenges to decisions issued by state and federal administrative agencies and appellate practice. Her writing acumen helped her segue into a federal clerkship. Amanda spent the next ten years as a career law clerk for the Hon. Hugh Lawson in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Georgia. During her years serving alongside Judge Lawson, Amanda gained unique knowledge and experience in all areas of complex federal litigation.
Amanda is originally from Peachtree City, Georgia. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Agnes Scott College in 2003. Amanda continued her education at Mercer University School of Law, earning her law degree in 2007.
Amanda and her husband Ken reside in Macon, Georgia with their daughters Lacey and McKenna. The Smiths are active members at Ingleside Baptist Church and support a variety of local organizations.
